tiresta and spouse today, starting off with lunch at Kua 'Aina in Ward Centre. That was followed by some shave ice at Waiola Shave Ice in Kapahulu, at which point I found out that there was also another store in McCully that I either hadn't known or completely forgotten about. After that it was a trip over to Waikiki Beach for them to go swimming for a bit, then finally a partial drive around the island. I say "partial" because we went around the eastern end of the island but only got as far as Kaneohe before we had to head back. We detoured slightly to drop by my place, where they got a chance to meet Lani (though she was a very quiet kitty, so unlike her constant talking to me). At least she let them pet her without trying to run off somewhere to hide.
On the drive, though, I saw a couple of Darwin Award wannabes in the making... two guys in naught but swim trunks walking on the rocks right by the Blowhole (I think they walked over from Sandy's). Apparently they were blissfully unaware of this story, or they knew of the story but still chose to ignore any warnings.
One person in particular gets the double babooze award from me because he also turned his back to the water. Luckily for him he wasn't bashed against the rocks by the surf.
It's too bad that you can't absolve yourself of litigation just by putting up a sign that reads, "NOT RESPONSIBLE FOR DEATH OR INJURY CAUSED BY LACK OF COMMON SENSE." Can you imagine how many lawsuits would never be filed?
