Saw "Resident Evil: Extinction" tonight. I had read an entry on Wikipedia about the video game and the movie, and had seen the first RE movie (but not the second). I'm not sure what I missed by not seeing the second movie, but one scene near the end of this movie reminded me of a scene near the end of the first movie... where the computer that was programmed to preserve human life had deduced that its best option was to kill everyone in the city and thus contain the infection. I suppose you can't argue with logic like that.

Without having seen the second RE movie, I can't say how well this one wrapped up loose ends, but I thought it was good. That may be saying a lot too since I generally don't care for FPS games or movies based off them ("Doom" is another one that comes to mind, for example). And I think this movie does something that I remember Japanese live-action dramas being famous for: it ends with you knowing where the story is going to go, but doesn't actually take you there. It's like watching a video of you drive to a destination and the video ends when you take the final freeway/highway exit. There's still a bit more to go, but you never see it.

But enough of that...

Tonight Lani was very vocal about me wanting to play with her, at least early in the evening. I distracted her with the laser pointer and had her play laser tag (i.e., chase the red dot all over the house) but as soon as I stopped, she came right into the room where I was sitting and meowed at me, waiting for me to start up the laser tag again. And when you have a kitty -- even a full-grown one -- whose meow sounds just like a kitten, you can't ignore that for very long.

Given how much Lani talks, though, I swear she has to be part Siamese, or whatever the cat-equivalent of a Portagee person is. :)

And speaking of lasers, I ordered a green laser pointer from amazon.com the other day. It supposedly already shipped, so I should be getting it shortly. I plan to use it for work as well as to entertain Lani during the day, when it's harder for her to see the red pointer. I'll stick to the red one at night though. Then again, I don't know if cats can see green, but if not maybe she'll at least see a bright light and its motion will attract her. :)

In other news, I got a base sticker for the car. Took me this long because I was waiting for the car registration to transfer over from the dealer, which in itself took over a month. I'll also be renewing my military ID card tomorrow since I'm transferring to the guard at the end of this week.
