Job update
Sep. 19th, 2007 10:11 pmLooks like I've been all but offered the GS-11 position that I was looking at, same place I was working at, as a tropical cyclone satellite analyst. The position isn't all that glamorous, but just the same it'll help pay the bills and it'll be a good transition from active duty into civilian life.
It looks like I should be starting on/around the 30th of this month and transitioning to rotating shift work within a few weeks after I start. It's hard to say exactly when the transition will occur, but I figure it'll happen before the end of the year.
As far as what impact this will have on my ability to go to FC08, it's tough to say. I'd still like to go, but a lot of it will depend on whether or not I can take any advance leave since that will be my limiting factor.
EDIT: I've since looked at the AFPC regulation on civilian personnel requesting leave and it looks like I can do the Leave Without Pay (LWOP) thing for the trip since I'd only be gone about a week and I could save up the paid leave for other times. It would be a matter of whether or not I can get the approval to take leave, but I'll cross that bridge when I come to it.
