Sep. 4th, 2006 11:40 pmI'm still in a bit of shock and disbelief after having read about Steve Irwin's death. Then again, given some of the stunts he's pulled with wild animals, I'm also surprised something else didn't kill him sooner. Still, he was a professional, and I myself have nothing but respect for the man... and my condolences go out to him and his family.
On to other business... hung out with friends pretty much all weekend. On Friday I saw Little Miss Sunshine, which was an "ehh, okay" movie (but not something I'm dying to jump in line to see again). Tonight I saw The Illusionist, which I thought was fairly well-done. It's a bit contrived in some places, and there's a plot twist near the end that's reminiscent of Alfred Hitchcock (or perhaps in more recent film fare, M. Night Shymalan). But beyond that I'm not going to say more.
I will say that The Illusionist did remind me of one of my LJ friends (
aceswild, to be precise), who is also a very good illusionist, mostly with close-up magic (if I remember correctly).
Not much else to write about except that this week will be a short (4-day) week since I had today (Monday) off... tomorrow will probably be a very busy day...
