After a brief respite from the heavy rain of last week, we're getting deluged again.  Because the ground has already been saturated from last week, it doesn't take much now to trigger flash flooding... so the entire state is under a flash flood watch until Thursday.  As I type this, Kauai and Niihau are under a flash flood warning, and I won't be surprised if one gets issued for Oahu within the next 24 hours.

It seems as though winter rains here are akin to summer rains in the Midwest.... even in terms of severity.

Last night it was pouring so heavily that I made several trips from the S4 to the garage to get everything in.  In the process, though, I inadvertently left the interior light on.  Because I used the M45 today, I didn't discover the problem until I tried to do a dinner run with the S4 and found the light still on.  Needless to say, leaving the interior light on for nearly 24 hours discharged the battery to just below where the car wouldn't start.

Fortunately I had a set of jumper cables in the house, which I used to jump-start the S4 with the M45.  That was the first time I've attempted to jump a car on my own, but it was successful... positive to positive, then negative to ground.  Because I was able to jump the S4 without having to start the M45, I think the battery was only slightly discharged... you figure the interior light doesn't use up THAT much battery power either.

I then took the S4 out to get something to eat and also ran it on the freeway for a bit.  That should be enough for the battery to charge so I can use the S4 again tomorrow.
