Bleah.  Got a nasty surprise when I got home from work and church tonight.

I came home only to discover that my cable had been disconnected due to nonpayment.  That was partly my fault because I hadn't been paying attention to my bills, and my credit card on file (which was actually a debit card) had expired.  When I had received my new card I hadn't updated it with the cable company, so as a result the bill went unpaid for two months.  Fortunately after a 10-minute call service was restored but that cost me $10 to get it reconnected.  That in and of itself doesn't bother me, but what if the penalty had been higher?  And I have absolutely NOBODY to blame for this except myself.  I have an EXTREMELY bad habit of ignoring a lot of mail that comes in envelopes until it's too late.  I'm just as bad when it comes to sending in rebates, too.

So... fair warning for those of you who plan to send me a Christmas card this year -- and, btw, my snailmail address hasn't changed since last year -- I may not get to your card until early next year.  :P

And speaking of Christmas cards, I'm creating/updating my 2005 list, so if you want a card please drop me an e-mail  (wxkat@livejournal.com) with your address on it.  I'll do my best to fight procrastination and get the cards out on time this year... the trickiest would be to get 'em outside of the U.S. and Canada in time.

In other news... stuff I've been meaning to do but am throwing on the back burner (and will probably never get to)... either tomorrow or next week I plan to call the Hickam Base Legal Office to find out what I need to do to file a pothole claim against the city (I could possibly recover $300 or so).

Next Tuesday we're getting the house tented for termites.  That means spending at least part of Sunday cleaning up/throwing out rubbish and double-bagging items in the fridge.  I'll also be taking the laptop and my cell phone with me on Tuesday so I'll continue to have internet access (and the cell will not only free up the phone in the hotel room but it'll also keep any phone costs down).

On the "To Do" list... e-mail the Further Confusion hotel registration address to let them know I reserved a room for the con but couldn't get the con rates, which are WAY cheaper than the internet rates.  I'm also pondering staying in the area for a few days, and just to make it easier will probably stay at a Motel 6 so I don't have to rely on anyone for crash space after the con...
