On a different note, I discovered today how badly things are broke at work. And that in turn does not bode well for me at all.
Without going into details, partly because I'm tired and partly because it would result in mostly rambling/angsting, suffice it to say that I've now got my work cut out for me for the next few months. That involves what will amount to a major overhaul of how I'm doing things at work. While stuff is getting done, it's definitely nowhere near the caliber where it should be.
In retrospect, I'm beginning to seriously doubt if I was qualified to do the job that I'm doing. While I made an effort to do well, laziness set in and what was once good has become crap. Not only that, I've not made forward progress... if anything, I've retrograded. That's two strikes against me so far.
One option I have is getting out of the military, but as I said once before (at least in a friends-only entry), I doubt that would solve my underlying problem. Those who would say I'm a hard worker probably don't know what I'm really like, deep down. While I loathe being micromanaged, I've also clearly demonstrated that I can't work without any supervision... I just don't have that level of self-discipline to do that.
All that said, there is some progress being made to get myself back on track. But it will mean undoing 2.5 years of what's been done, and that in turn will keep me quite busy over the next few months.
