... yes, more angst for your reading enjoyment (?!) ... though actually it'll be more like what's been happening versus angst.

Still, it seems as though when you DON'T want something to happen, it almost always DOES... and when you DO want something to happen, it seems to NEVER happen.

Case in point: the last couple of days. Yesterday a friend went to the hospital's ER with jaundice, but he seemed fine. Best I've been able to figure out is that he was already battling bronchitis, and a rather aggressive secondary infection nailed his liver. The other possibility might have been hepatitis, but as of last night that seemed unlikely.

Earlier today I got a phone call from another friend who said one of his grandmas had fallen and broken her leg, so she was in the hospital... though she appears to be doing fine.

Around the same time I got the phone call I came down with what I think is a case of mild food poisoning. At least I hope that's the case and that it isn't a bacterial infection. Went out to do some shopping and got lunch from a fast-food place before I went. I was fine for about half an hour or so, until I got home... then I felt as though I'd been run over by a semi. Most of it was fatigue and feeling somewhat feverish, not to mention the runs. No sore throat though, and this time (unlike the past couple of times I had food poisoning) I didn't throw up. Took some Motrin though and now I'm better, though I'm actually starving a bit... hopefully that's a good sign. I should have some better indicators in the morning though, because the Motrin could be masking something worse (though hopefully not).

I also had one of my VCRs die on me. Actually, it still works, but the eject mechanism is pretty much kaput. It spits out tapes just fine, more or less, but you have to almost manhandle the tape carrier to get it to actually position the tape in the VCR. Not fun... especially when I had planned to copy some stuff for some other folks. Guess that's not gonna happen, at least not in the immediate future.

On the (hopefully) better side though, I'll be on my way to Further Confusion in less than 48 hours. It should be a good trip, as long as no other disasters (minor or major) otherwise happen (knock on wood).....
