FC 2013 update

technocollie with me but it's just not going to happen this year. A big part of it was that none of the dialysis centers in the area can accommodate him -- or so they say. But even if that had been resolved, he's currently sick as a dog -- so to speak -- and we both decided that for his safety, he should not go on the trip. In case you haven't heard, there's a pretty nasty flu bug going around, and if that becomes entangled with con crud, that could easily put the puppy in the hospital.
I'll be there from the 16th (the Wednesday before the con) to the 23rd (the Wednesday after the con). I'll be attending a variety of events, but only as an attendee, nothing else.
As for any other cons this year, or next, don't count on it. A new Congress -- made up of mostly conservatives -- has settled in, and this group -- moreso, I think than the last group -- REALLY wants to cut our federal spending. And I can't really say I blame 'em... we can't keep spending money that we don't have. But the flip side means a lot of cuts to federal programs, and I anticipate anything in that vein... from my pay and/or hours being cut to my job being furloughed or eliminated completely. Only time will tell what happens during this year, but if I don't go to any cons for the rest of 2013 and all of 2014, I should have enough reserve fund-age built up to go to FC 2015. Of course, that's two years out, and FC 2013 hasn't even started yet, so there's no telling what'll happen.
So for those of you who are going... hope to see you there! If you aren't going, then hopefully I'll see you in 2015.
(And FWIW... I figured the music in this post would be from a movie that's rather apropos for FC 2013's theme. :)
