So... where were you 10 years ago?
Sep. 10th, 2011 08:56 pmGiven that my first LJ entry was in 2002, I don't have any blog about 11 Sep 2001, but I recall getting a phone call at 6am saying that the Crisis Action Team had been activated. Upon arriving at the Crisis Action Center I found out exactly what was going on.
At the time we had two people in my office, and the other person was on leave in the CONUS and trying to get back. We ended up surging to 24-hour operations for a few days, which pared down pretty quickly. The other thing I remember was that it took almost an hour to get in to work on 12 Sep because all the bases on-island had jumped to then-THREATCON (now FPCON) Delta, and traffic all around the bases was completely snarled.
IIRC,
ionotter was on the East Coast going to school in Norfolk, but was in New York on leave (fortunately not near the WTC Twin Towers though), because I vaguely recall wondering about his safety.
Ten years ago I was also living in an apartment downtown. I had just gotten the unit in August, so I'd barely gotten set up when $#!+ hit the fan.
