Went to get a haircut today and got a nice reminder that I'm going bald. Not so much at the front of my head (yet) but definitely in the back. It was actually enough for me to go out and get some of this to see if I can at least curb some of the effect. Time will tell, I suppose. The thing is, though, it can take up to 4 months to see results, so I ended up getting a 3-month supply. We'll see if this works.

One caveat though... Rogaine is toxic to cats. :p

So... I'll be using it with rather extreme care around Lani and making doubly sure she doesn't try to groom my bald spot or anything.

On to other stuph...

Last night when I got off shift my co-worker that was relieving me told me that as he left Hickam's main gate (he lives on base), a truck, something like a Ford F-150, went through the gate at high speed. Yeah, you know where you're normally supposed to *slow down* before you get to the gate? Apparently for whatever reason this guy didn't. I don't know if they caught the guy or not but I believe there are a couple of emergency barriers just past the gate guards. Dunno if they had time to activate them or not.

Maybe it's just me, but it seems like the population of the state of Hawaii is getting stupider on an almost exponential basis every year. Today as I was heading out to run an errand, I was getting ready to get onto the freeway from the 11th Avenue onramp. Now when you head in the Koko Head direction on Harding Avenue, you can turn right (to go onto the freeway) or go straight ahead. The street is two-way on the left side, but there's a HUGE sign that proclaims "NO LEFT TURN". So what does the Einstein in front of me do as soon as the light turns green? You got it, he makes a left turn. He figures that by signaling it's okay. The oncoming traffic was also going to turn left to get onto the freeway (which is fine), so it had to wait anyway.... but either this guy just simply didn't pay attention, wasn't the sharpest knife in the drawer, or just chose to act like an idiot and ignore the sign.

Then again, I'm not immune either. I remember being told once that I turned at one intersection when the light was red even though there was a sign that said "NO RIGHT TURN ON RED". Course, I don't remember the sign, and if I remember correctly that intersection has changed from that to "RIGHT TURN ON RED AFTER STOP". But ignorance is no excuse.

Ah well, such is stupidity, I suppose. At least nobody was hurt or killed.
