Yeah, I know that's the title of an RHPS song, but it's also what I did last night.

Saw "Hellboy II" and "Journey to the Center of the Earth" (the latter in 3D). Comments on each follow (no spoilers, hopefully):

"Hellboy II" is more or less a standalone movie, as there were few details present that I remembered from the first one... except for Hellboy being an ailurophile. This one has special effects that are pretty much eye candy, and the story almost becomes second nature to the effects. However, both are pretty good, and I give this one two claws-up. I don't think it was better than the first one, but I'd have to go back and see the first one to really make a judgment call. One thing, though... from what I understand, there isn't much continuity beetween the two movies, but perhaps that's a good thing in that you don't have to see the first one to understand the second. And oh yeah... Seth McFarlane is one of the characters... but I won't tell you which.

"Journey to the Center of the Earth" is mostly special effects and eye candy. The plot is okay, not great, but not uber lousy either. But unless you're willing to spend the $$$ to go see it in 3-D (which I did), I don't think it's as enjoyable. The movie almost plays out as though it was made for 3-D, though that might just be part of the 3-D version that the regular release doesn't have. Two claws-up for special and 3-D effects, one claw up and one down for story.

I'm not going to say which one is better, though I will admit I wanted to see "Journey" more than "Hellboy"... but both were good. And I think they're both worth seeing.

In any case, time for this kitty to get some rest. More later, hopefully....
