My last post of 2007
Dec. 31st, 2007 01:48 pmA couple of quick posts to close out this year. I'm not going to reflect on 2007... I'll save that for a later post (maybe).
Saw The Golden Compass on Saturday after having delayed seeing it for a while. It takes pretty obvious stabs at the Roman Catholic Church, which isn't surprising to me considering the author is an atheist. But that aside, I thought the movie was fairly decent. I did like how the CGI (and live animals) to create the demon familiars was integrated into the movie.
However, "Golden Compass" isn't exactly original. Watching it reminded me of the Lord of the Rings trilogy, the Narnia Chronicles, and even Around The World in 80 Days. Still, though, it wasn't bad but it does appear to end abruptly (it is part of a trilogy, after all).
A few movies that I'm interested in seeing that come out next year...
- Prince Caspian
- Kung Fu Panda
- Wall-E
- Horton Hears A Who
- The Pirates Who Don't Do Anything (I know it's VeggieTales, but the previews look pretty demented)
- Meet The Spartans
Not much else to add at this point. Back with more in 2008!
