Sep. 10th, 2007 04:22 pmReplaced the towel bar and toilet seat in the bathroom. The towel bar broke a couple nights ago when I was in the shower reaching for a towel and lost my balance trying to grab it. Lesson learned... put the towel I want to use on the side CLOSEST to the shower next time. :P
The toilet seat, which was wooden, had been cracked and hastily repaired with duct tape but last night one of the mountings, which was plastic, broke. I ended up replacing the seat with a soft (aka cushioned) seat, which offers at least two advantages: (a) it's easier on your posterior when you sit down and (b) you don't get the ice cold toilet seat in the morning that you'd otherwise get with a plastic or wooden one.
In other news, I ordered a transcript from UH and one from UCLA after I spent most of Saturday hunting for them (and at best came up with a partial UH transcript). Since I'll need these transcripts even if I apply for a job with the state, my game plan is that when the transcripts arrive I'll scan them in, store them as PDF files on the computer, and file the originals in my safe.
Also ordered a copy of my birth certificate... the nice thing is that Hawaii now lets you order those online. (Yeah, my credit card has definitely been getting a workout lately...)
Also found the laser pointer which I had been hunting for a while back, so Lani now gets a few minutes' workout of "chase the red dot" a day. :) And even though Lani is very much playful, interestingly enough she never tries to steal my food. She may try to label the container, but I've never had to brush her away from the food. So I guess she's like a cat in some respects and definitely not like a cat in others. :)
