Jul. 15th, 2007 06:34 pmLooks like this will be my last entry here in Dayton, OH before I fly back home tomorrow.
A quick recap of the past couple of days:
Yesterday Tigerwolf and I met up with
therinm and
animakitty to go to Wolf Park in Battle Ground, Indiana (near Lafayette). We headed out around noon. The journey was uneventful... we stopped once for gas, once to get food and had a minor snafu with a missed turnoff (which, as it turned out, was because one sign that we were looking for had been removed, apparently for a road widening project). Got to the park around 3:45 and took a walking tour around 4:15. Nearly all the wolves, coyotes and foxes were snoozing, so I didn't get a lot of pix then.
We left the park around 5:30 and got dinner, then returned around 7:15 for Howl Night. That's when the park is open in the evening to showcase the wolves. They seemed somewhat lethargic at first, then as it got closer to dusk they began to perk up. After Howl Night was over, we headed back over to the fox pen, where one fox was out snoozing on a ledge and another was either foraging or looking for a place to get some sleep.
After that we headed back. Stopped at a PETRO station where
animakitty found a black panther plushie and I snagged a smaller calico kitty plushie.
Today was mostly uneventful... went to lunch at an Indian buffet restaurant followed by a quick shopping trip at the AF museum (this time I got an F-16 paperweight made of scrap parts... something I think Razor would easily have enjoyed doing in his spare time at the salvage yard :)
Not much else to write about at this point. Might go see a movie later tonight, not yet sure if I want to do it (but probably will) since I'm mostly packed and just waiting for some laundry to finish before I shove everything in my check-ins.
Hopefully the journey tomorrow will be uneventful as well. The tricky part is that I have two connections, one in Charlotte and one in Phoenix. One is a bit tight (~40 minutes, and that's assuming the flight out of Dayton isn't delayed) and the other gives me just a tad bit more breathing room (~50 minutes). Of course, if I miss a connection because the inbound flight is late, the airline is supposed to accommodate me as best as it can. BUT... this is US Air that we're talking about here, so I'm not holding my breath....
