Oct. 20th, 2006 12:32 amEarthquake followup: USGS revised Sunday's earthquake to a 6.7, which (I believe) was slightly stronger than the one that hit Northridge.
I can only imagine how those living near Waikoloa on the Big Island must have felt when it hit.
In other news, I saw The Ant Bully at the $1 theater in Restaurant Row. I'd been wanting to see it when it first came out, but it was only in theaters for about two weeks before it shifted entirely to matinee times, then left the main theaters fairly quickly afterward. Not sure why... I guess someone, somewhere, decided that it wasn't drawing in enough people, or there were plenty of other movies coming out that would be bigger draws... dunno. <shrug>
After having been spooked a bit by Sunday's earthquake, Lani appears to be back to her normal self, greeting me when I come home and wanting scritches and attention. Tonight I also indulged her in a few minutes of lazer tag before I called it quits and left her to rest in the living room.
One thing about having 10 pounds of cat around is that I can definitely tell when Lani jumps on the bed. You feel the added weight of the jump, then feel the paws moving around on the bed (mainly at the foot of the bed, but sometimes she comes up to the laptop which is near my chest and rubs her cheeks against the edges). But honestly, I wouldn't trade that kind of affection for anything else.
Sunday evening is going to be a bit of a dilemma of sorts. Several people on the sound team at church have been urging me to attend a get-together at another sound team member's house for a night of fellowship and an uplifting, inspirational message to prepare us for the upcoming holiday season. But at the same time I don't want to pass up the oppportunity to hang out with friends, especially since I have so few as it is (online doesn't count here).
I still don't know yet what I'm going to do. Thing is, if I miss Sunday's event I'll likely be pressured even more into attending other events. I definitely don't mind the fellowship, but I'll have to seriously think about what I decide to do. And once I make my decision, be it good or bad, I'll have to follow through on it.
