Just got home from seeing Monster House in 3D Digital. I'll comment on that in a bit...

*blinks at the radio* Okay, apparently Denny's is going to be sponsoring the first hour of the Saturday and Sunday shows of Coast to Coast AM, if I understand Art Bell correctly. Art has apparently said that it's a good thing. I'm not so sure...

Today I helped out at church, part of my weekly ritual. Believe it or not, helping out actually helps me out spiritually because it allows me to build/rebuild my faith among other Christians who are also serving. We simply do it for an audience of One (or perhaps technically the Holy Trinity).

I left early after the second of two services that we hold on Saturdays (we do two Saturday and three Sunday services) to see the last showing of Monster House 3D. Apparently the 3D glasses they give you are reminiscent of the Captain EO glasses they used to issue at Disneyland... instead of the paper ones that have red on one side and blue on the other, these were polarized. I like them better because they don't give me a headache like the other ones did.

Overall, MH was a good movie, and I definitely liked the 3D. Seeing the 3D version did command a roughly $2 premium over normal admission (even for military!), but I liked the effect... even with animation.

Tonight my sister left me a note on my door saying that Lani played with my sister's dog (a Shih Tzu) and they apparently had a really good time.... and Lani didn't want to go back downstairs. And I've seen Lani wander into the outer hallway (between the garage and the living room), walk over near the door to the stairs, and meow at the door. I'm glad someone else can help give Lani the attention she needs that I'm not always able to give...

Grabbed this meme from [livejournal.com profile] slipscale:

1. Elaborate on your default icon.
It's a screen grab of the character Razor from SWAT Kats.

2. What's your current relationship status?
Single and semi-looking, but I fully expect to be a lifelong bachelor.

3. Ever have a near-death experience?
Nope (unless you count the sensation of falling in a dream)...

4. Name an obvious quality you have.
I'm an ailurophile.

5. What's the name of the song that's stuck in your head right now?
"Listening from Coast to Coast" -- tribute to Coast to Coast AM, sometimes played during the show

6. Any celeb you would marry?
Good question.... maybe Elizabeth Hurley?

7. Who will cut and paste this first?
Probably one of my LJ friends, hard to say...

8. Has anyone ever said you look like a celebrity?
Nope.

9. Do you wear a watch? What kind?
Almost always... a Timex Expedition (I like it because it displays two different time zones).

10. Do you have anything pierced?
Nope.  The only things I'd even consider getting pierced would be my ears, but all piercings -- even ear piercings -- look just plain painful to me.  And I'm not going to willingly subject myself to physical pain.

11. Do you have any tattoos?
Nope.  If I want to wear body art, I'll just put it on a T-shirt... this way I can remove it if I don't like it/the novelty wears off.

12. Do you like pain?
No.  Pain HURTS!

13. Do you like to shop?
Mostly window shopping if anything.

14. What was the last thing you paid for with cash?
Concessions at the theater last night (actually it was just a soda since I had a coupon for a free small popcorn).

15. What was the last thing you paid for with your credit card?
Gas (as in for the car).

16. Who was the last person you spoke to on the phone?
[livejournal.com profile] technocollie

17. What is on your desktop background?
At home:  one of the Windows pix (the moon rising in the background over a mountain)
At work:  a satellite pic of Hurricane Iniki (1992)

18. What is the background on your mobile phone?
Blue Windows Mobile default

19. Do you like redheads?
Not really.

20. Do you know any twins?
Not currently, might have been some in my class when I went to school but I don't remember.

21. Do you have any weird relatives?
Define "weird".  o.O

22. What was the last movie you watched?
Monster House 3D.  My movie viewing is typically hit-or-miss.

23. What was the last book you read?
I think it was The Chronicles of Narnia (all 7 of them).
