FC06, Day Two

... though this was the first official full day of the con.

Today was a bit unusual in that there weren't any events that I was really interested in attending.  There were a couple puppetry panels that I ended up not attending, and for the most part split my time in between the lobby and the dealers room (though I think I mostly hung out in the lobby).

Finally got to meet chahala, who was fairly high up on my priority list to meet since I hadn't met him last year.  And since I got in on Wednesday, I've met a bunch of other LJ'ers on my friends list:  sithallanthis ... krag_carbine ... kaysho ...  shadowolf ... aeto ... chipuni ... cobaltie ... dingofox ... evilrat ... gustyfox ... kitsumi ... nerfcoyote ... oliver_otter ... rcoony ... rrauwl ... thump ... tiresta ... whiteyfawks ... windmist  ...

... and I think that's everyone so far (phew!).  (If you saw/met/talked to me, but didn't know that I had an LJ and you also have one, let me know... did that make sense?)  But I expect to be adding perhaps a few more LJ'ers to my friends list before the con is over.  :)

I've generally been wandering around by myself but occasionally hooking up with other furs... so I'm doing the typical feline thing as far as being a loner, but not being antisocial.  I'll have to admit that those in fursuits are pretty cool, especially those who can really act out the part and become more like mascots versus just loping around in a fursuit.

Interestingly enough the Critterlympics, which have in the past been on Sunday, are on Saturday this year... and the Fursuit Parade, which was on Saturday, is now on Sunday.  I'm definitely planning to snap some pics of the Fursuit Parade but I may actually consider passing on the Masquerade this year.  Last year I discovered that I couldn't get very good seating and it was tough to get good pics unless the fur that was posing actually stood still long enough for me to snap a picture.  At least with the Fursuit Parade, everyone gathers for pix at the end in front of the convention entrance.

BTW, I found out there's a way to send an LJ "nudge" to someone... supposedly it e-mails them that so-and-so is wondering if you're still alive (or something like that).  If that's the case I may use it every so often to ping those I haven't heard from... but I'm not going to abuse it.

In any case, I'm probably going to rest up for a bit.  I'm not going anywhere for the next few days, and I'm not leaving the area until next Friday... so this so far is turning out to be a very good trip.  I'm seriously considering splurging for an upgrade to first class on my return flight, if there are any seats open....

FC06, day 3

I'm writing this from the hotel lobby using the nokia 770 again... this way I can get to update my LJ and still talk to others. ;)

Today I caught the Critterlympics... an apparent staple of the con... then part of a puppet show. Unfortunately it seems as though either my camera or the rechargeable batteries I brought are acting up on me because I keep running out of battery power or can't get good enough light for my pix... hopefully the camera and the batteries will behave better tomorrow.

Dinner tonight was at Todai Restaurant in San Jose... it was good but the tradeoff was that I ended up missing the masquerade. Though from what I've heard it sounds like I didn't miss much. Besides, I think I'll get better pix with the fursuit parade tomorrow.

Which brings me to lounging in the lobby, and the end of this entry. More tomorrow!
