One Week & Wingman Day
Nov. 22nd, 2005 09:13 pmIt's been a week since the house was tented for termites, and except for the dead mouse I saw Friday, I haven't noticed anything else... yet. Then again, I wasn't expecting to see much since the first floor is mostly brick tile (except for the walls separating the rooms).
On a different note, I was thinking about this post that I entered in
furrychristians, which talks about the Air Force's "Wingman Day" (I know at least one of you out there knows what that is... for the rest, here's a primer). Originally a "wingman" was a plane that flew slightly beside and behind the lead plane in an aircraft formation. This helped the planes' mutual survival in a hostile environment.
As we head into the holiday season, I'd like to say that it's my hope that everyone out there who is reading this has a wingman that s/he can turn to for emotional, moral and/or spiritual support as we enter the holiday season. For married couples, it should (better?!) be your spouse... for those who are single, it could be family, or it could be a really good friend (I hate to say it, but I find I can often confide more in a good friend than I can anyone in my family). As for me, I have several LJ friends, and even some non-LJ church ones, that I would consider my wingmen.
If you don't have a wingman... it's my sincere hope that you find at least one. If you need one (and especially if you're on my friends list)... I may be available. But I'm less likely to be a wingman to a stranger vice one to someone I know.....
