Found an old rebate form that just expired a few days ago that I kept forgetting to send in.  I've finally decided that I'm not going to get anything that has any kind of mail-in rebates, no matter how much the rebate is, since I never remember to send in the rebates anyway.  I remember I told people this time and time again, yet they've persuaded me to get the item anyway.

I usually don't send in the rebates right away because I don't know for sure if I want to commit to the item (many require the ORIGINAL UPC code from the packaging, so sending it in automatically makes the item non-returnable).  I also want to make a copy of everything I send in because things tend to have a habit of getting lost or misplaced in the mail, or the recipient might claim my submission is incomplete for any number of reasons.  That's of course when procrastination sets in, and before I know it, the deadline has long passed.

So if you're a company that wants to make a huge profit off me, just offer an item with a huge mail-in rebate.

Got the S4 repaired today... to the tune of nearly $600 (which included tire balancing, alignment and rotation).  Of that, I'll get $200 back from the tire protection plan I purchased, but I'm going to eat the remaining $400 as a loss.  Why?  Even though I took photos of the pothole and of the damaged tire, I did NOT file a police report.  And filing one at this point -- over a week since the incident happened -- is not only pointless, but it'll look like I filed the report once I learned how much it would cost to repair the damage.

I'm also pondering buying a full-size spare and replacing the donut in the trunk with it.  Naturally this will eat up all the trunk space since the full-size tire won't fit in the wheel well, but my experience has been that when I've had a car that has a full-size spare, I've had no issues with getting flat tires.  I had my '98 Camry, which had a full-size spare, for 7 years, and never had a problem with flats or potholes.  I had the Infiniti M45, which also has a full-size spare, since June, and no problems with flats or potholes.  The car I had before the Camry, an '88 Corolla, had a donut spare... and of course I got a flat with that car.  The Audi S4 has a donut too... and I got a flat (actually, an unserviceable tire) too.  See a pattern emerging?

Only about a month to go until The Lion, The Witch, and the Wardrobe comes out... can't wait.  Woot!
