Trading up
Oct. 15th, 2005 07:41 pmI no longer have my 1998 Toyota Camry.
Decided to trade it in toward a used 2001 Audi S4 Avant, which I got for roughly $30K (
audiwulf , do I have a claws-up from you on this move? :) ... initially the offer was for $32K but the dealer offered me the blue book value for my Camry, plus was willing to match any deposit I put down ($2K). As a result, I netted $7500 trade-in for my Camry (sight unseen, mind you!) because of the dealer's offer.... was just too good to turn down.
The S4 had roughly 45,000 miles on it but I think that's because it was bought on-island... which is good because the local Audi dealer (of which there is only one) would have serviced the car (it offered free servicing for something like up to 4 years). I also decided to get an additional warranty coverage plan, which would cover the car for up to 100,000 miles or 7 years. This was deliberate because this covers me for any breakdown or unusual wear and tear not caused deliberately.
(BTW, did I mention that the S4 retails for roughly $60K new?)
The driving reason for my getting a car to replace my Camry was that I wanted a car that was versatile and useful, but would also get more decent gas mileage than my M45 (I should be looking at around 24 to 30 mpg with the S4).
The car is silver with a black interior... leading me to name this guy "Kana". :) Quiet and unassuming but can quite readily bare teeth and claws if the need ever arises. :)
And just to wrap up loose ends... I called Mazda today and told them to cancel my order on the 5...
