Sep. 19th, 2005 09:42 pmI re-read my last posting and, after having made it public for one day, decided to make it a friends-only post... though it's entirely likely any damage may have already been done.
It's not that I have anything against anyone for me not to make my entries public. However, if I limit certain entries to friends only, I can control who reads and doesn't read my entries.
What follows is what I consider a sanitized version of my last entry, which I think may have gotten a bit too personal in some places for public viewing:
I've found a new addiction that's been precluding my making a few LJ entries... or at least, it's done so for the past several days. PopCap Games has a game called "Chuzzle," which to me is sort of a cross between Pac-Man and Tetris, with Star Trek tribbles thrown in. It's quite demented... for example, if you click on a small Chuzzle repeatedly it sneezes and loses all its fur. :)
I've also been pondering getting another car. This time I'm going for something that has a bit more utility to it... the Scion xB. The xB loses points for aesthetics because it looks and feels like a box... even more so than the Honda Element. And when I test drove it on Sunday, it felt -- visually -- like riding in a bus. But the ride is relatively smooth, though I'm a bit concerned about ground clearance. The xB, if I get it, would replace my Toyota Camry, which has been having a really nasty habit of bottoming out over bumps with a full load of passengers. The good thing is that the xB is relatively affordable, starting around only $14K (translates to roughly $200-$300 per month if financed for 5 years). I'm not in a huge rush to replace the Camry, but with gas prices projected to keep going up (I still think we're going to see it hit $5 a gallon before the end of 2006), I want something that gets 30 miles per gallon (or better). The nice thing about the xB is that it offers a LOT of cargo room, especially for big boxes, so I wouldn't have to worry about twisting boxes to fit stuff in the car like I've done with the Camry (and to a lesser extent the M45).
One thing I forgot to post about last night was that we could be seeing a couple of hurricanes influence our weather late this week or early next week. The one that's of more immediate concern is Hurricane 10E (Jova), but the forecast takes it north of us, so it looks like we probably won't see any damaging winds. But I won't be surprised if there's a risk of flash flooding and torrential rain statewide this weekend...
