A couple of religious discourses

Had a few thoughts that I wanted to jot down tonight... hack away as you wish:

A few days ago I read a discourse that, as best as I could tell, said that a person's sin would be inconsequential to God.  After all, look at all the tsunami victims, the victims of the wars in Iraq, etc.  Surely a God of mercy would have spared these people, right?
