Happy 2005 from one of the last places on the earth to celebrate it!

Just got back from celebrating New Year's Eve at my brother's place, though unfortunately it wasn't all fun.  While it was a typical smoky New Year's -- light winds, mostly cloudy skies, torrential rain and gusty winds in the forecast (which never materialized), suffice it to say things didn't end on the best of notes.

Part of it was my sister getting bitten by my brother's dog, a Chihuahua, and having to go to the ER to get it looked at.  The dog bit her on the corner of her right eyelid as she was petting it... apparently must have been spooked by the fireworks.  My sister got some antibiotics, a tetanus shot and some other medication...  but she's okay, though her eye may be hurting a bit in the morning.

The other part was what I will call family politics.  I'm going to leave it at that for thsi entry but will probably put more details in a friends-only post.

What a way to start off 2005, eh?  Yeesh...

Continued from my last (public) entry...

Spent the day with a friend at his cousin's place in Makiki, then went to dinner at his grandparents' place in Liliha.  Had a good time, good food -- though I think I ate too much :P -- and got to socialize a bit.  Also called and talked briefly to [livejournal.com profile] ionotter.  The one thing I didn't ask him, though, was how he spent his New Year's.  I probably could have stayed on the phone with him for a couple hours at least, especially since I have unlimited weekend minutes on my cell phone, but we only chatted for a little while.

I'm not sure how 2005 will shape up for me personally.  I think work-wise it'll be pretty busy and I'm hoping to be pretty productive, but I've got a lot of homework ahead of me -- including collecting all my accomplishments since May 2004 -- which aren't much, unfortunately.  It's a project I'll have to work on, and complete, before I go on leave to FC in a little over a week (it's that soon already?! Wow...)

On the financial and family side, things look to be somewhat hairy for 2005.  Most of it will, I think, be in terms of family politics, but I suspect my family could be making mountains out of molehills.  Not that the molehills aren't important, mind you, but they may be overemphasized.

As far as New Year's resolutions go, I think I'm only going to have one for 2005.  It's only one because I think it's going to be an extremely hard one to keep, especially for those who know me.

And that resolution is...  RELAX.  Take time to stop and smell the roses.  Not every issue has to be dealt with on the spot.

We'll see how well I do on this at the end of the year.
