Dec. 3rd, 2004 10:12 pmSome big changes are looming on the horizon.
First off, I'll be moving downstairs within the next couple of months or so. Once I'm down there I'll be paying rent, roughly in the amount of my monthly housing allowance. That will go toward helping pay off the mortgage on the house as well as any property taxes and utility bills.
Second, it looks like I'll be kept pretty busy at work. Normally, a humanitarian assignment is only for a year, but I'm going off my orders, which have me assigned to the Joint Typhoon Warning Center. That'll put me on NMCI (Navy-Marine Corps Intranet), ergo I'll have a ".navy.mil" e-mail address.
Third, I'm hoping to be at FC05. Earlier I'd posted that I wasn't going, but that was based on my mom being terminally ill... and my not expecting her to pass as quickly as she did. I think the trip will definitely be a welcome vacation, though I feel just a tad guilty for being the first of my family to travel following my mom's passing. Still, I can probably relieve that guilt by picking up a few souvenirs from the San Jose/San Francisco area during the trip.
I will definitely make no bones about my faith having gotten me through the recent changes in my life. In particular, I'm reminded of two (brief!) passages:
"I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me." -- Philippians 4:13
and
"And we know that all things work together for good to those who love God [and] who are called according to His purpose." -- Romans 8:28
