Saw 2 movies over the weekend: "Home on the Range" and "Hellboy."

"Home on the Range": This one looked like the animation was rushed and somewhat incomplete in places. Can't fault the animators, though... they apparently had to push a 3-year project through in 18 months. While this one's Disney's swan song as far as hand-animated feature animation movies go, I prefer to think of "Brother Bear" as being its last good hand-animated movie. Not that "Brother Bear" was its best hand-animated movie, but I believe it was its last good one -- in terms of story, music and animation. "Home..." had a decent storyline, but it didn't really wow me like some of Disney's other animated movies.

"Hellboy": Trying to compare this to "Home..." is like comparing apples to oranges. But "Hellboy" was a well-done movie (and hey, the title character likes cats, so he can't be all that bad, right? :) To be honest, I haven't really been a fan of translating comics to movies, but in some cases they translate well. Others work, but there really isn't anything all that spectacular about 'em... Spider-Man, for example, didn't really do anything for me.

I'm taking leave this week, mainly to play tour guide... but since I normally don't do much other than go to work, home and occasionally visit my mom, running around doing the tour guide bit is wearing me out rather quickly. In fact, I was so worn out that I ended up taking a 2-hour nap on the beach. Maybe it's the feline in me, but I find myself having to nap in the afternoon if I've been running around all day. Interestingly enough, though, I understand that Benjamin Franklin believed in lunchtime naps, too, but then again he did strike me as a bit of an eccentric guy....
