Almost Friday...
Mar. 20th, 2003 09:06 pmIt's been a pretty busy week, and it still isn't over yet.
I'm not referring to the ongoing war with Iraq ("Iraqi Freedom") here, either -- if I were, it'd be a MUCH busier and more hectic week than I could imagine. Nope, instead it's the class I'm attending here in Alabama. Been here about a month now, but like I said it's been busy.
Tuesday and today saw what's known as Project X. Without going into details (since that isn't kosher for anyone who hasn't attended the class!), Project X consists of a set of stations. Each station consists of a task, which all members of a team must complete within a prescribed time. Some of the pix on the website kinda show you what's involved. Some of the tasks require strength, stamina and/or endurance... and given that I'm not all that athletic, some of the tasks took a lot out of me, physically.
We also did some planning for a computer wargame simulation... we execute the plan next week. I'll likely post an update on how we did then.
Tomorrow is a test (for which I feel somewhat adequately prepared, but I'm gonna log off and review some more tonight after I finish this entry), followed by a Flickerball campaign. How can I best describe this? Well, a google search for "flickerball" netted some results, but I'll sum up this way: it's a cross between basketball and football, and a lot of it is how well you know the rules... because the rules can either make you or break you... OR you can use the rules to make or break the other team.
Next week is the home stretch with a physical fitness test, a briefing and the simulation execution, but after Wednesday I should be in the "cooling down" phase of this course and ready to return home to fight a different war next weekend. There's a possibility I might be able to meet up with a friend this weekend, but as in life there are no guarantees, so I'm not betting money on it. I will keep my fingers crossed though....
