Been here in Montgomery, AL for 2 weeks now, and heading toward another weekend. So far, things have been going fairly well... been having a good time, somewhat working my tail off... but making some time to take it easy too.

Have been keeping in touch with at least one friend, [livejournal.com profile] audiwulf, seeing if we can hopefully get together during the weekends (which I've been able to keep relatively free so far), but his schedule has been so bogged down lately that any chances of that happening are fairly remote. However, there are a couple of things I'm looking at further down the road...

(1) Taking a future assignment over at Keesler AFB in Biloxi, Mississippi as an instructor for either the tropical weather course or the weather officer course. Chances are I'll likely get it too... even the person who does the weather officer assignments told me that I'd easily be the most qualified person he's sent to Keesler, and that it's almost like pulling teeth to get people to go there. I guess I can see that... obviously Keesler is nothing like Hawaii... MUCH warmer and more humid during the summer and MUCH colder during the winter... but I'd also be doing something I'd enjoy doing (teaching).

(2) Possibly returning to Maxwell AFB for a 3-year tour to teach the class that I'm currently in. It would actually be considered a career-broadening move, which would actually help me in my career. Haven't considered it seriously, but here's the other interesting tidbit: both tours are what are known as "controlled" tours. That means that most likely I won't deploy to a hot spot during that particular assignment. That chance isn't necessarily zero, but probably low enough to not be much of a factor.

I think there's at least ONE other LJ user out there ([livejournal.com profile] haystack???) but don't know who else is out there. Anyone? Anyone??
