After reviewing the past few days (pretty much since the time of my last entry), I've had to pretty much rethink a lot of what I've chosen to do lately.

Not that my thinking has changed all that much, except for one thing. And that was just a case of really bad timing.

Simply put, today I got very close to completely cutting off a friendship. I'm really glad I didn't do it, though, because that would have been something I would have regretted from the rest of my life. It's true that time heals wounds, though; but when those wounds are fresh, pouring lemon juice or salt on it (especially if it's self-induced) doesn't help.

I titled this entry after the song by Lee Ann Womack which, if you look at the lyrics, is quite inspirational. Even though I'm not much for country music, I still think it's a very good song with an even better, more powerful message. And that's not just because Oprah plugged the song on her show (to be honest, I don't even watch Oprah, so I never saw the show where she did that).

Right now, perhaps the following lyrics are the most poignant for me:

"Give the heavens above more than just a passing glance,
And when you get the choice to sit it out or dance,
I hope you dance... I hope you dance...
(Time is a wheel in constant motion always rolling us along,
Tell me who wants to look back on their years and wonder where those years have gone.)"

The way I see this is that life is too short as it is... it's not worth wasting when you can instead live it to the fullest.

Now exactly what this will mean or do to me, it's hard to say. But I don't think I'm going to go with my original plan, which was deliberately load up my schedule so I wouldn't be able to meet up with friends. But it doesn't mean I'm going to free up my schedule for my friends all the time either. It'll have to be a balance of some sort...
