catching up...
Jun. 11th, 2002 10:54 pmGot stuff from the weekend to write about... meant to put this in last night, but erratic and sporadic power outages nixed that idea. Hopefully the power will hold out tonight (it's held out so far)... but we'll have to see.
Where was I?... Oh yeah, back to last weekend.
Went snorkeling in one of the tide pools on the North Shore. The place is called Shark's Cove, located near Sunset Beach, northeast of Haleiwa. Contrary to its name, I didn't see any sharks during the snorkeling, though we stayed mostly near the tide pools. I imagine some small sharks must make their way into the tide pools, but like I said I didn't see any.
Of four of us who went on the snorkeling trip, only one was a certified, experienced diver... so we stayed in the tide pools. Apparently it also meant the water stayed fairly warm because the pools were fairly shallow. Had a great time exploring, checking out sea urchins, reef fish, and (I think) pipefish. Also saw a small cone snail. In tropical waters, cone snails are one of those animals that you really want to watch out for. They're one of the most venomous, and deadly, animals you'll find. Turned out the diving flippers I used were too long for the tidepools I navigated. (It was quite a bit of a hassle just to be able to stand up straight because the flippers constantly folded under me, knocking me off balance.)
Sunday, saw the movie "Bad Company." I couldn't remember what it was about until the movie started... then I figured out the plot. Without giving anything away, suffice it to say that a secret agent (Chris Rock) gets killed... then his brother (also Chris Rock) gets picked to take his place. Needless to say, this second guy is nearly opposite to his brother in just about every way imaginable. For example (and I don't think this will spoil it because I remember seeing it in the preview), the guy who was killed liked classical music. The other guy thinks classical music is Run DMC. 'Nuff said, I think.
Busy, busy week so far at work. Most of my time has been eaten up sitting in meetings and briefings, and it looks like there really won't be any reprieve to this until at least Thursday. Oh well... at least I have Friday off... or so I think....
And finally, in closing... (about time, eh?) ... check out this site: http://www.glennbeck.com/news/05172002.shtml
I tried it with a $20 bill and it works. Haven't tried it with the $5 or $10 yet, and I don't have any $50s or $100s around to check... but I may do that if I ever come across either....
Heh... I'll bet a lot of people will be seeing creased $5, $10 and $20 bills now... :)
