Took Lani in for a checkup today. She behaved very well, perhaps even deceptively so. I know she's a lot more rambunctious at home.
The vet told me that Lani was in very good condition. Other than the periodic de-worming and the feline leukemia vaccinations, Lani needed little else. She weighed in around 10 pounds, plus I was told she looked really well-fed. I noted that I keep Lani's feeding to a regular schedule... she gets roughly 1/8 cup of food twice a day, approximately 12 hours apart, on a timer.
Like perhaps most, if not all, cats, Lani protested when I had her in the carrier going to the hospital. But I think that was more because she didn't like being confined the way she was.
I've also heard that black cats generally don't tend to be adopted as much as others, which is to me an unfortunate shame. I adopted Lani based on her catsonality... she came right up to me without hesitation when her cage was opened at the Humane Society. I'll admit that black and white wasn't the color I was originally going for, but I have no regrets about having given Lani a home.
