Jun. 13th, 2012 10:22 pmThe Alienware no longer wants to play nicely (read: DirectX keeps crashing when I try to run FSX, and dxdiag.exe keeps crashing when I attempt to troubleshoot). Tried to replace the video card drivers, but that kept hanging the system. :P
Meaning that on Sunday, I finally broke down and decided to replace it with one of these. (If you don't get the irony, take a good look at the icon I used for this post.)
The Blade seems to be on par with the MacBook Air in terms of weight. But I'm willing to bet that it'll leave both the MBA and the Alienware in the dust when it comes to performance.
Today, though, I discovered that the order was cancelled because I chose standard shipping at checkout and the company won't use standard shipping because it doesn't provide the insurance and security (i.e., delivery confirmation, etc.) that the more expensive expedited shipping does. So I re-ordered and this time got one of these thrown in as an added bonus. Not a bad deal, I suppose.
