Up to speed...
Jun. 4th, 2012 09:48 pmAn update of sorts.
Went to six sessions of physical therapy to deal with the pain in my right hip/thigh. Some days it's fine, other days it's worse. I'll admit I haven't really kept up with the exercises I'm supposed to be doing, but I plan on doing those more frequently and consistently within the next few days.
Had a few houses in the neighborhood get broken into, so we installed some security doors on the house. If the break-ins continue, the next step is to replace the downstairs windows with more secure stuff.
Been fairly busy at work doing support for Guard during our annual hurricane exercise -- where we simulate a disaster response to a hurricane hitting the state. One thing I'm gunning for is to get the weather flight more involved with this next year. Things have been all over the place due to inconsistent leadership but I'm hoping that with a change on the horizon we'll get back on track. And one of the things I want to push is to get us more involved in natural disaster response.
Lani woke me up at 3am the past couple of days. Actually, it was more like something woke me up, then Lani decided to take advantage of it and jump on the bed and ask for attention. So... that prevented me from going back to sleep right away. But I do like it when she enjoys the attention since there's something very soothing about her purring. I just wish she wouldn't ask for it so early in the blessed a.m.
One thing I miss about working admin-type hours over the past week is that I haven't had any real days off (worked Tues-Fri, Guard dril Sat-Sun, then working this week Mon-Fri, though Fri will probably be more of a down day than anything). Normally I would have had the weekend off but Guard drill trumped that. At least the one thing about working shift is it guaranteed breaks during the week even though the hours were longer per shift and I'd work alternate weekends. But hey, if it helps bring in $$$, especially in preparation for FC, it's worth it.
I will be keeping a somewhat low profile at FC because I'm kinda trying to avoid someone (mostly because of the drama that would be involved, even though I'm not part of the drama). Otherwise I'm looking forward to seeing those I couldn't meet this year. And I'm probably gonna try for a DJ slot at one of the dances (probably Friday night if anything). Had fun doing it in 2011, and hoping to do it again in 2013.
