RIP to a webcomic I've been following for a while:

Read through some friends' LJ posts and realized that it's been quite some time since I saw many of them in person. The cancelled annual pilgrimage to FC this year notwithstanding, it's been at least a year to a couple of years since I saw several of my LJ friends in person. And it could possibly be longer, depending on how the rest of this year turns out. (Not making any bets either way right now.)

Occasionally I wish I was living in California again. At least I'd have the chance to (maybe) have a more social life. There are a pawful of (fairly strong) ties here that I'm very reluctant to sever, though, which is why I'm staying put.

And -- it may or may not come as a surprise -- the strong ties don't really involve family much anymore. Not that I'm not on good terms with my family -- far from it -- but my parents were really the glue that held me and my siblings together. Without them, the bonds just haven't been as strong. It's been over seven years now, and I can definitely notice the difference.

There are days at work when I miss Lani, my feline companion. But I imagine there are just as many days when I miss having other furs to hang out with, especially given the one local fur I prefer to hang around is (mostly) out of commission at the moment, and -- very slowly, with the emphasis on "very" -- recovering.

Some days I kinda wish I could turn back the clock. Not necessarily all the way back to childhood, though... 15 years would be fine for me. :) Can't believe it's been at least that long since I first got on the 'net too.
