Ordered one of these from Amazon, and it arrived today. Began using it tonight, and boy does it give a really good massage.

Over the past month or so I've been having persistent pain in my right hip. Doctor ordered an x-ray, which turned up negative. A co-worker suggested I try a massage therapist, so I went to Balance Point on his recommendation. An hourlong massage ran about $65 (the initial session was 90 minutes), but it seemed to help a bit.

The pain is still there, though, so I decided to try the massager, which has helped provide some relief. I mentioned this to my doctor, but he noticed that my ankle reflex was significantly less responsive than my left side and suspects a pinched nerve (I think this is separate from the hip pain). The current treatment is to wait and see if things get worse, but in the meantime I've been told not to run (although low-impact stuff like elliptical is fine).

The only downside to the massager? According to the instructions, the unit should be turned off every 20 minutes and allowed to cool down for the equivalent amount of time for best results. In other words, an intermittent massage is best. Otherwise, the manual recommends buying a second one and using the two intermittently. Yeah, right, like I'm gonna buy another one. :P
