Okay, I suppose it's finally time for an update (rather than just posting links to random crap).
Been having intermittent pain from my right hip to my right knee for the past month or so. Not sure what's been causing it, but both running and driving don't seem to help. Also lying down on my right side (which I frequently do so I can use my laptop on the bed) doesn't help either. X-ray results came back negative for any problems, and my doctor suspects possible sciatica. The latest thing I've discovered is that if I do extensive hip flexing, such as doing Wii Fit Cycling for an hour, the problem gets significantly more noticeable. If it continues, my doctor may order an MRI. Meantime, I've been advised not to run, which is a bit annoying since I have a PT test for Guard coming up in a couple months and I need to be able to do a 1.5 mile run well to pass.
Last Guard drill I was approached about a TDY opportunity to a location somewhere in Southwest Asia for 6 months (for obvious reasons I can't be more specific). Turned down the opportunity not so much because I don't want to deploy, but also because I'm pretty sure Lani would miss me terribly (and I'd miss her too). As it is, she's waiting for me at the door when I come home from work, and if she isn't in the bedroom, the minute she hears any kind of activity that suggests I'm awake, she's on the bed curling up next to me in a flash. Oh, and when I was gone for 10 days last year, the day I came home I heard the insistent meowing that I usually only hear when I shove Lani in a carrier to take her to the vet.
And speaking of Lani... I found a couple more of her whiskers on the cat tree, bringing my total collection of cat whiskers up to 5. Also found another cat hair that I can't tell if it's a whisker or a long cat hair since Lani's fur and whiskers are the same color (black). It does seem a bit stiffer than a normal cat hair though, so I'm guessing it's a whisker. Thing is, since Lani is strictly an indoor cat, and the first fully indoor cat I've ever had, I never realized they shed whiskers until I found the first one a while back. Of course, in retrospect it makes a lot of sense since a cat whisker is just a cat hair, only stiffer and generally longer than a typical cat hair.
Oh, and one rule of cat whisker collecting, according to this site: cat whiskers may not be taken from a cat, they must be given by the cat. Duh, kind of a no-brainer...
