Mar. 1st, 2011 04:50 pmI managed to get my Alienware laptop up and running again after having problems with the core overheating and shutting down while playing FSX. Bought a cooling pad and a small fan to aim at the vents, and dropped the graphics on the laptop, all of which seemed to work. Oh yeah, and I also updated the BIOS and video card drivers. If that still doesn't help, I may have to remove and reseat the heat sink, but for now it's working. Eventually I might replace the laptop, but right now that's not gonna happen.
For those of you who've been keeping track of the news, it looks like Congress will be approving a temporary measure to keep funding going for another two weeks. If I read/understand that correctly, it means that I'll have at least one to two more paychecks. After that, everything is back in limbo, so for the time being I've decided to curb going out, seeing movies, etc. Bottom line is that while I can survive financially, I have no fund-age to go out... so I'll be spending a lot of my free time at home.
At least I have Lani, YouTube and FSX to keep me company in the meantime. :)
