I suppose I should post an update, though nothing much has been going on since FC.
I did tell a pawful of furs at the con that I applied for an open position at work which is two pay grades higher than my current one. It's at the same location and department, just a different position. While I was at FC, I learned that my application had been forwarded to the hiring authority... apparently no small feat since the screening process is fairly rigorous.
After getting back, I was scheduled for an interview last Monday, which I did. However, I don't expect to get the job, mainly because one of the other prospects has a PhD and is probably a much better match for the job. That said, I'm not losing anything because I still get to keep my present position.
So what this all boils down to is no more leisure trips for me this year -- not that I was planning any, anyway. I'm still penciled in for FC 2012 and should hopefully have that solidified by midyear. I'll just be cutting back elsewhere financially in the meantime.
