Oct. 7th, 2010 10:11 pmOne step closer to getting the QX that I ordered back in July.
Today I finalized the paperwork and traded in the Escalade. Unfortunately I didn't get nearly as much as I'd been hoping for/expecting on trade-in (and I was only looking at wholesale value as reported by Kelley Blue Book/NADA/etc.)... BUT I did get above the payoff value, which is at least something since it means I'm not upside down on that loan.
What complicates things somewhat is that the QX isn't in yet. It's due in next week. However, the used car manager wanted the Escalade, and with used cars I'm not all that surprised since they usually want them fairly quickly.
So... in return, I've got a 2005 QX as a loaner. It isn't bad, but there are quite a few issues I have with the vehicle (for example, the window controls are at windowsill height and parallel to the ground, so they're harder to reach). No cooled/ventilated seats, no blind spot warning system, and no power folding mirrors. But I'm not going to complain... the ride is a little more comfortable than the Escalade, mainly because the seats are more comfortable (there still seems to be the same amount of head toss and body roll because both vehicles are built on truck frames).
It does mean, however, that I'm one step closer to the vehicle I've been drooling over for the past 3 months.
