It's been a while since I've actually updated this thing (not just posted blurbs here and there), so I figure I should actually post a full update.
Saw "Karate Kid" last night. It's a reworking (but not reboot) of the original, and what I liked about it is that it doesn't try to be the original. The movie is actually about kung fu, not karate, but it's still martial arts. And what better teacher than Jackie Chan?
Saw "Toy Story 3" last week. I think that franchise is not only Pixar's biggest cash cow, but it's one of the few movies whose sequels have been getting better... though probably not as good as the first, it comes pretty close.
Last night I saw this trailer for an upcoming movie. Not sure if it'll be any good, but hey, it's about wolves (and it's NOT Twilight):

Had to replace the second hard drive in the Alienware laptop (it has two, one went poof a few months ago). At least the drives are still under warranty since I upgraded them both in November. But if they go poof after November then I'm SOL, so hopefully they'll either go out right away or they'll last forever (and yes, these are Seagates, if that tells you anything).
I'm starting to get really fed up with GM's service to where I'm seriously considering trading in the SUV for a different make -- something I really hadn't planned when I initially bought the vehicle in late 2008. Late last month I had a problem with the driver's side mirror where it wouldn't tilt down when I put the car in reverse (both mirrors are supposed to tilt down, the passenger side still worked). Took the car in for service, the problem was diagnosed to be something with the switch. No biggie, order the part and wait... except the part took three weeks to come in. Took the car back in, dealer worked on it... and now it looks like the problem is with the mirror itself. That was last Friday. So now it'll probably be another three weeks before that part comes in, depending on when the dealer gets around to ordering it. And oh yeah, I don't get any kind of service loaner unless the dealer keeps the car overnight, though it does offer a shuttle. Given that I got a luxury brand at the time (yes, I got a Cadillac), you'd think GM would do a better job (though the Cadillac dealer changed hands -- the original place where I got the vehicle folded and a new one took over).
Here's what I'm thinking about replacing the SUV with, but I'm waiting for a hybrid version to come out first (supposedly Infiniti is looking at coming out with hybrid versions of all its vehicles over the next decade). The non-hybrid version is supposed to hit dealers sometime next month so I'll probably give it a test drive at least:

I know, you're probably thinking I'm nuts for going for a luxury brand when I can get something just as functional for just a fraction of the price, but you also get what you pay for. (Well, either that or it's tough to get away from a luxury brand once you've owned or leased one.)
Until next time...
