Okay, so Hawaii now has a Republican in Congress. It's not the end of the world, nor does it (necessarily) mean a major paradigm shift in Obama's home state, much as the mainstream media would like to have you believe.

What really happened is that the two Democrats effectively split the vote so the Republican contender won. It actually wasn't a surprise for me. In fact, I'm more interested in seeing if he can keep the seat come November. If not, then there really hasn't been much change as far as I'm concerned.

However, it does look like Americans are getting fed up with the status quo in Congress. They want new blood to get rid of the dinosaurs. Dunno if that's necessarily a good thing, but we'll have to wait and see.

In other news, I'm helping support our annual hurricane exercise here. The nice part of this is that my workcenter is only five minutes away from home, so I don't have to worry about any traffic in either direction. It's nice not to have to fight traffic for once.

Hoping to go check out Shrek 4 tonight, logistics permitting. Apparently this is the only window we'll have to go see it before the schools get out tomorrow and the theater is likely to be uber crowded. One week from Friday Twilight opens, which knocks Shrek from the IMAX screen.

And finally... I seem to be getting peppered with ICQ authorization requests (at least 1-2 a day) that I end up denying and blocking. Most appear to be in a foreign language (Chinese? Russian?). Anyone else having this problem or do I just happen to be the lucky one? :P
