Yeah, I know Chinese New Year was over a week ago, but I was at FC at the time so I never got to really answer the question. But here goes.

I'm a cat person, having been owned by a total of four cats (grew up with 3, and am currently owned by one), so it's quite ironic that I was born in the Year of the Dog (1970). And as to whether I fit the description of the sign, well... read on (all behind lj-cut tags to save space):

On Monday I finally got around to doing laundry after coming back from FC. I threw a load in, set the washing machine, and went back inside to prep the next load. Came out 20 minutes later and the washer is off, so I figured it was done. But I noticed that the laundry was still warm. That's kinda odd since the rinse water is usually COLD.

Then I found out the washer never ENTERED the rinse cycle because the cold water line wasn't working. Lovely. So I had to fill the washer by hand from the adjacent sink using a garden hose and the cycle continued. Repeat for some 4 additional loads (it was late at night and I really didn't feel like going to a laundromat, not to mention I don't even know where the nearest 24-hour landromat is).

Today I found out that the problem was that the solenoid for the washer had gone poof, so it couldn't ingest any cold water. So now I have to hunt for a replacement part online. And even better, the warranty had just run out a couple of days ago. (How do appliances KNOW these things, I wonder...) :p

At least my brother-in-law is the handyman-type so we're not spending $$$, but it's still an annoyance.

I didn't even know such a day existed, but according to this public information statement on the NWS Honolulu's website there is....
