Post-con crud blog
Feb. 1st, 2009 09:36 pmI think I got lucky this year with respect to getting post-con crud. Because I started getting sick AFTER I got home, I'm not calling it con crud per se (though it probably could have been started, or made worse, by con crud). It could have also been airplane crud since planes also tend to be great disease carriers, even those that have central A/C like several of Hawaiian's planes. Plus, I heard something was going around over here too, so maybe it was a hybrid of some sort.
Friday was the worst day for me partly because the symptoms didn't start until I had been sleeping all day and had gotten up to get ready for work, by which time it would have been too late for me to call in sick (not to mention it would have forced someone else to come in and work a 12-hour shift that wouldn't have been prepared for it). The whole shift I was plagued with coughing, congestion and chills.
Got off work Saturday morning (I was working a mid-shift), went home and doped myself up with NyQuil. Zonked out and woke up feeling a little better. Cough not as persistent, fever pretty much gone. Went to work, got through the shift feeling little more than really tired at the end of the shift. Another NyQuil dose, zonked out and now the only symptoms I have are a lingering cough and a scratchy throat (the latter I think due to all the coughing).
All in all, I think the worst is over... for now.
