Saw "Bolt" in 3-D the other day. Comments (no spoilers, hopefully) follow...

I have to agree with [livejournal.com profile] technocollie that the opening part of the film ends up being more of a twist if you don't see the trailers or read anything about the movie. That's tough since there've been previews for the movie all over the place.

Bolt is a cute puppy, if you ask me. :) Mittens is kinda sorta cute, a bit scrawny perhaps. Kinda reminds me of Lani but with a more lower pitched voice. And Lani isn't that skinny either. (I tried to put her on a diet after her last vet visit but that didn't work... that's another story.)

I think this one is kinda like "Meet the Robinsons" in that it's cool eye candy if you see it in 3-D, but even if you don't it's still a fun movie. Seems to be more for kids, but grownups will probably like it too. Two claws-up.

Been kinda sorta getting psyched for FC09, though that trip is still a couple months out. Still have to go through (Thanksgiving and) Christmas first. I put Thanksgiving in parentheses because it seems like that holiday no longer exists. As soon as Halloween's over, all the stores bust out their Christmas stuff and radio stations start playing Christmas music. Used to be they'd wait until Black Friday but I guess the retailers want to get an early headstart because of our economic downward spiral.

In other news... at least one Supreme Court judge is planning to at least consider a couple of petitions that claim that Barack Obama is not a natural-born U.S. citizen. Interestingly enough, the very liberal news media has not even touched this subject. I'm willing to bet they're all screaming "Republican conspiracy", too. (For the record, I voted for Obama...)

Got an early New Year's resolution planned. Because of my recent purchase (see a couple entries ago), I'm going to do more socializing online and less in person after FC. What that means is that I'll probably be on SL (and perhaps FurryMUCK) more often but will be going out less often. Part of it is that I need to watch my own spending, and part of it is that I really need to make my friends stop using me as a bank, giving out perpetual loans. That last part is why I never go out on Sundays anymore (when I'm not working), and chances are I'll be spending quite a few more days at home after FC... at least until my finances stabilize. That also likely means no other trips off-island for 2009. But I'm not going to project that just yet.
