Indy and Earthquake Central trips
May. 22nd, 2008 05:01 pmWent to see the midnight showing of Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull last night. My reactions/comments follow (no spoilers, hopefully):
This movie is, I think, definitely worthy of being part of the Indiana Jones franchise. I definitely think it's better than the Temple of Doom (although I did kinda like Short Round in that one) and at least close to Raiders of the Lost Ark and Last Crusade. Because crystal skulls have been linked to the paranormal, the movie appears to have shades of Art Bell/George Noory/Coast to Coast AM. It is a bladder-buster, however, as the movie runs around 2 hours 15 minutes, so make sure you go to the bathroom beforehand. And maybe it's just me, but I kept hearing Cody Maverick ("Surf's Up") throughout the entire movie. :)
Switching gears... I'm planning to be up in the L.A. area near the end of June (looking at somewhere between the 19th through 29th), with a possible 3-day road trip to the San Jose area. Nothing's finalized yet, but I'll post updates as the dates get closer.
Further out into the future, I booked airfare to FC. I'll be in the SJ area from January 21 through 28, with the con being from the 22nd through 26th. Somehow I get the feeling quite a few furs will be driving because of the increasingly skyrocketing cost of airfare, but who knows...
