A pawful of movie reviews from the past couple of weeks (no spoilers, hopefully):

"Beowulf" - See this one in digital 3-D if you can. A few times I found myself wondering if some of the characters were rotoscoped but from what I heard, the entire movie was CGI. I noticed that some of the minor characters looked somewhat like the human characters in the "Shrek" trilogy. I remember reading the epic for my freshman World Civilizations history class, but I had almost completely forgotten the story until I saw the movie. Two claws-up.

"The Mist" - see my comments in an earlier entry. Felt like watching a variant of the movie "Hardshell" in one of the SWAT Kats episodes. One claw up, one claw down.

"Mr. Magorium's Wonder Emporium" - A tale about a magical toy shop that's reminiscent of Charlie & The Chocolate Factory and Babes in Toyland (tho I only saw snippets of the latter). I liked it, but there isn't a whole lot to say about it. Perhaps, because of the subject matter, it was appropriate for the movie to come out when it did, but there isn't a whole lot to elevate this one above the other mainstream, feel-good movies out there. Two claws-up (but not enthusiastically).

"Enchanted" - Okay, this one's a keeper. I don't think it'll necessarily catapult Disney back into where it was when it came out with the likes of The Little Mermaid and Beauty and the Beast, but it's still different enough to be interesting. Disney also parodies its previous movies, most notably Snow White, and while the characters and plot are very formulaic and predictable, there were enough interesting tidbits to keep my interest. Two claws-up.

If I had to rank order these movies in terms of what I liked, from best to worst, I would go with:
(1) Enchanted
(2) Beowulf
(3) Mr. Magorium's Wonder Emporium
(4) The Mist
