Oct. 9th, 2007 02:38 amWhile playing Laser Pointer Tag with Lani today, I came up with several reasons as to why I'd rather have a cat than a dog for a pet.
1. Cats are lower-maintenance than dogs. For the most part, an indoor kitty mainly needs food, water and clean litter and can generally be left alone for most of the day if need be. It's generally unnecessary to bathe a cat but it should be brushed often.
2. Cats have softer fur than dogs (or at least it seems that way to me based on the cats and dogs that I've been around).
3. Jane Pauley said it best: "You can't look at a sleeping cat and be tense."
4. Few things are as soothing as a purring cat.
5. Depending on the feline, sometimes a laser pointer is enough to provide hours of entertainment for kitty. It's also the lazy man's cat toy because I can stay in bed and have Lani chase the laser in a limited area. Sometimes I let her play with an old shoelace as well so she actually has something to physically catch, but I think she prefers the laser.
