Happy (belated) whelpday to [livejournal.com profile] technocollie!

I'm now on terminal leave prior to my separation date of 29 September 2007. It's been an enjoyable time, but it's time for me to move on (though partly not by choice). Tomorrow I have a phone interview with one workplace (my old workplace, actually). The reason it's a phone interview instead of an in-person one is because the other candidates are also being interviewed but won't be flown over to Hawaii, so the intent is to avoid giving me an unfair advantage over them. I'll still dress for it as though I'm going to a regular interview, but probably won't do the full business suit deal... more like an aloha shirt and nice pants.

In other news, I swapped out the TSX for a used 2006 Acura RL. It had some 16,000 miles on it... not bad considering it had been used for roughly a year and a half. And compared to some $53K new, I snagged this one as an Acura certified pre-owned vehicle for $38K (the dealer had dropped it to $41K, then dropped it further to $39K and I managed to finagle another $1K off it). Yes, it's still fairly pricey, but I will say that the ride and technology is definitely worth the $$$.

And btw, I named the RL "Razor", partly because its color scheme was almost exactly the same as that of the Infiniti G35 I got back in 2005...

In still other news, I went to a VA job counseling session today. We did a few personality tests to see what I would most likely be interested in (and as I did the tests, I could easily see how much my friends have influenced me and my decisions in recent years) and/or if it was compatible with the choices I made when I first came on active duty. I'll find out the results next week, when I meet one-on-one with my counselor.

On Monday I saw "The Simpsons" again, in digital this time. Yes, there is a difference... digital is brighter, more vibrant and not as "noisy" (no artifacts that you see on a 35mm print because the digital movie is played from a hard drive). And it costs the same to see a digital movie as it does to see an analog one, but there are only a pawful of digital theaters here.

Beyond that, not much else to write about. The battery in the M45 died on Sunday, and it's been working reasonably well, but the engine appears to be a little hesitant to start, so the battery may need to be replaced. So... for the time being, [livejournal.com profile] technocollie is borrowing the RL instead of the M45 and I'm using the latter...
