Catching up on stuph
May. 21st, 2007 12:42 amJust realized that the last time I posted in this LJ was last month, and I've got a few tidbits here and there to update:
Saw "Spider-Man 3" on opening night. That's probably the last time I will ever see a movie at midnight when I work the next day. :P The movie was okay, was "aw-ite", but I will admit that it wasn't as good as the first two. I had heard that this was partly because Marvel pulled the plug on the Spider-Man franchise... originally there were supposed to be 5 movies total, but the decision was made (at some point) to stop after the third. So... Spider-Man 3 has what would have been 3 separate movies smashed into 2.5 hours.
Last weekend I saw "Shrek 3", also on opening night... but this one wasn't as bad because the movie showing was 10pm instead of midnight. And like the two before it, Shrek 3 had some good stuff in there. Unfortunately, though, I'd have to say that Shrek 3 wasn't quite as good as the first two, but it was still pretty good. And as far as my favorite character goes... all ya gotta do is look at the userpic I used for this posting. :)
In other news... a couple of items of note:
I made travel arrangements to go to Anthrocon '07 (yes, I'm actually going...!!!). This was mainly because I have some 19 days of use or lose leave that I want to burn, and I'll be using some 14 to 15 days for this trip and selling the remaining use-or-lose days back. That way, I not only get the $$$ for the leave that I sold but I also get my normal pay for the month because I work the other days.
I'm also hoping to get a civilian position where I work. There's supposed to be a satellite analyst position advertised sometime this month, and it's a GS-11 position... and that plus COLA should enable me to continue to live comfortably over here. :) And besides, it's a federal job, plus I still get base privileges... and I plan to stay on with a local Air National Guard unit. I'll post any updates here.
