Flyboys

Went to see the above movie Thursday night.

My overall impression:  good movie, but LONG.  It runs something like 2 hours and 19 minutes, and that does not include the previews.

For more details check out the website at http://www.mgm.com/flyboys/

I'm not a huge fan of war stories, but this was one I was curious about and wanted to see.  It's certainly not a lighthearted movie though it does have a few one-liners.  But as a flyboy of sorts myself (actually I'm a weather zoomie), I can only imagine the sacrifices that must have been made during the "Great War" (later renamed to World War I) and World War II.... and now the Global War on Terror.

In other news, I would say I'm mostly on leave and partly working.  The "partly working" part comes from my checking my work e-mail throughout the week (nope, couldn't leave well enough alone because I knew there were things going on that I would have preferred to have been at work for, but I had to burn up use/lose leave that I couldn't otherwise use... I can't sell excess leave back until I retire or separate, and I can't donate the unused days either).  But I would say the "mostly on leave" part is somewhat akin to Billy Crystal's "mostly dead" line in The Princess Bride.

Got more stuff to write about, including the Father of the Pride DVD and Spaceballs:  The Movie, Collector's Edition... but I'll save all that for another entry.
